We're in NFR's area of expertise now.

he's always on target with the most current bang for buck buys.

From what i know, that is a good amp. can you do better? i would think so.

On fitment:
Will my speakers fit?
It's usually an issue of mounting depth. Using the data found on MacGyver's site (yes, the real MacGyver) the rear depth of the space for speakers is 68 mm (2.68") on the top and 79 mm (3.11") on the bottom.
I've never heard of MB Quart amps but as they are now owned by Rockford Corp, don't be surprised to find it performs as you'd expect a rebadged Rockford Fosgate amp to perform (which isn't entirely a bad thing).

you can always do better, that is part of what is driving me mad here! But that is where you all come in, the experts.

I'm by no means even remotely competing, nor do I care if my neighbors down the block can hear me. I like to listen to clean and clear music. I have always been a "bang for the buck" type person.

Where are you NFR???

Im here, im here.....

Listen, forget the rears for a minute, take my word for it....

Instead of the midline Infinitys, get the Perfects...well worth the extra dollar.

Next, get a nice sub, we all know what I recommend, Alpine, Eclipse, ED, Alphasonik is my fav right now....

As for amp.....Get a nice 4 channel, one that you can send 125 to each front speaker and 300 to sub....

Very nice amp...

Budget amp

The Van gogh is nice, but isnt made anymore, so its just overstock. Im not sure how the warranty would be on an old amp....although soundstream is pretty good with their customer service.

generally speaking, find your door speakers and choose based on what your ears like most. CDT components are supposed to be quite good, but i'm unsure on the depth issue for the mains. i'm 99% sure they will fit, but i'm too busy right now to look it up to be sure. the FAQ should cover that.

a set of fronts designed to run @ 100 Wrms and the JL 10W3v2 will work fine w/ that MB Quart amp, and while RF amps aren't the best, they are a far cry from worst and are better than most - that's a darn good price on that power from RF, and it's CEA compliant... plus, given that it makes its theoretical max when bridged, i'll guarantee you that it's at least slightly underrated. i've always liked RF amps for being reasonably priced and solid performers for the money. imo, this is a good deal on one.

Thanks NFR, that is precisely what I was looking for. And I wasn't going with any rear speakers so we're on the same page there.

So here it goes New System Rev .9:

Deck - Alpine 9851
Amp - Alphasonik PMA4150A
Components Option 1 - MB Quart PCE-216
Components Option 2 - Infinit 6.1 Perfects
Sub - 10W3v2-D6 in stealth well enclosure (http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/S2000.html)

I have struggled to find one place that has the components I want to listen to so component recommendations are welcome. Music I listen to would be electronic, trance, house, etc.

electronic, house, trance, sounds like infinitys to me. They excel with electronic music.

Quarts are better for horns, vocals and live music.

I just noticed this on crutchfield. I almost never look at them because they are so expensive

MBQuart RAA4200 4x100(RMS) - $250

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-G3Byzw5lr6s/c...49RAA4200&g=120

I know I can use this to power my components with the front channels. Can I use the rear channels to power my one sub? (sorry if a dumb question).

What do you all think of thess amps? I know there speakers are great.
read my short review of the RAA4200 in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=294324

it performs very very well. depending on your setup, i think it can suit you very well. as long as you dont mind the on/off pop.

Like I stated many times before....the only MBQuarts I like are the Q's. I dont like the low line MBs...they seem cheap and not made as well as the Qs.

Go with the perfects, you wont be diappointed.

I hope this isn't off topic, but I am also trying to decide between MB Quart PCE-216s or the Infinity Perfect 6.1s. I also plan on amping them. The Quarts have a sensitivity rating of 2 dB and the Infinitys have a sensitivity rating of 90 dB. This seems like a pretty huge difference. Am I missing something here?

Alex

~oh and I do plan on listening to them to make the final decision, just trying to educate myself on what all this stuff means.
