Default Component speaker crossover box - need advice

I'm installing a Polk Audio DB 6502 component speaker system in my 2004 AP2 S2000.

At first glance, It seems that the Polk woofers will fit right into the stock speaker mounts. Meanwhile, the Polk tweeters look like they'll attach onto the stock tweeter bracket, fastened with either two-sided gorilla tape or a hot glue gun. So far so good.

My main issue is where to install the crossover box. I've attached a photo of the passenger side door panel. As per the photo, I've tentatively placed the box in the black plastic housing on the bottom left, and will secure it there with either two-sided gorilla tape of glue. What do you guys think? Is this the correct placement? Also, what's the best way to secure it in place (tape, glue, or something else)?

Finally, I am wondering how to feed the crossover box input. Some people have suggested using the wire inputs from the original woofers to feed the crossover. This would leave the OEM tweeter wire unused, as the new tweeters (and new woofers) would be fed by the crossover. Is this the right way to do it?

Thank you for all your advice!

I installed my Polks in that same location.

Used some velcro that had an adhesive back.

The Velcro was still holding at 5 or 6 years when I replaced the speakers.

I found a detailed step-by-step plan of an almost identical installation at the following link:
https://www.instructables.com/AP1-Ho...r-Replacement/

Looks like the installer cut the black plastic in order to pass the six wires through. See attached photo. Are these cuts really necessary, or is there enough room around the edge to pass the wires without cutting? Also, what's the best way to cut the plastic?

Yes, correct way to do this is place crossover into that black plastic open box, that seems to have no other purpose than to be perfect place to fit aftermarket crossover. Gotta love this cars planners.

Then yes, existing tweeter wire goes unused, and new wire from crossover to tweeter used instead.

Yes, you feed crossover from woofer wiring.

I believe I didn't need to cut black plastic box to fit wires through. I used Pioneer component speakers, but that shouldn't matter of course.

If I did have to alter, I'm sure I would have just drilled a hole to pass them through.

To make it easier to remove door cards in future, I added an aftermarket sealed male/female quuck disconnect plug. Very factory wiring like, from Amazon.

So crossover and its wiring can stay put mounted to doorcard, and wiring to speakers can stay intact, and wire from door to door card just has this plug.

That way I could solidly mount crossover, pass wires however I wanted, yet future card removal for maintenance is easily accomplished.

My only addendum is to round and smoothen the cut surfaces of that plastic to prevent it from chafing the wire's insulation.

...and use Metra 72-7800 speaker harnesses or similar to connect to the factory wiring
