Just for fun, when I installed my system, I tried running the components on the stock 02 head unit, they sounded like CRAP! All I heard was fuzzy distortion, kinda like a bad radio station connection.

so golfpro says that the stock HU throws out 20-30w in one post and then says that aftermarket HU's throw 14-21w...im confused here...Can someone give me a better explanation...
I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear. The stock Infinity Premium system in my Mitsubishi 3000GT is rated at 30watts (best EJ guess, as Mitsu won't make the specs available.)

I have no idea what the stock Honda system is in our S2000's. I would speculate about 20 watts.

Depending on make and model, an aftermarket head unit can provide a whole host of improvements over the stock deck. Power is only one consideration.

yes 20- watts is about right on stock S2k HU, but keep in mind the reason in "upgrading" HU its not all about Wattege, it more of better sound reproduction, clarity (qualtiy sound) not how loud it can go

The filters and crossovers built into my head unit make a WORLD of difference. Not to mention TIME CORRECTION. One of the best features on Alpine units.

!!! I just installed an Alpine CDA-7995 a week or so ago, and the difference was amazing. Now that I have the tweeters back from Darkknight1999, it sounds even better!
