i was just gonna put it parallel to the passenger door lock circuit (actually, In PLACE of the passenger door lock wire, since im going to wire that parallel to the driver door lock wire). i didnt think a piezo would be too sensitive to direction. actually i was counting on it working both ways, so it would beep when its locked, and unlocking. if i understand the circuit diagram right, the keyless entry module reverses the polarity depending on it wanting to lock or unlock the doors. (heck, it might even change tones depending on polarity, which would even make it more useful) i suppose i could try it out on a battery first.
isnt the door unlock signal momentary anyway? it should also be constant power, since the keyless entry works without the key... (yeah, duh)
maybe im making this out to be more simple than it is...

well i learned two things just now.
putting a jumper between 7 and 18 while both are still connected will cause a short. it basically burned up the jumper wire i had. im gonna have to disconnect the passenger lead as i suspected earlier. i want a spare lead to splice the two together outside of the harness first tho. so i can keep the stock leads in place. ill have to go to the junkyard and cut from some other wiring harness a long enough lead. (maybe a stereo harness lead works? hmm...)
also a piezo buzzer will only work in one direction. however, i havent actually wired it and just tested it on a battery, it might still work.
im just glad i got the car back fro mthe body shop yesterday.
