Default Convertible top motor control limits

I purchased a 2001 S2000 and noticed the soft top sitting higher than it should. Went to usual route of adding washers and then switching the brackets which also did not help. Only made the top close tighter. What did work was closing the top short of its of its normal close position and then using the clamps the bring it down the rest of the way. Top is flush.
So is there a way to modify the motor limits? Does any one know what causes the motor to stop when opening and closing the top? Thanks in advance.

Is it sitting higher than it should when you store the top. If so, its most likely worn straps in your soft top. Check the following out. I had to do the same when I purchased my S

the problem is with the closing not opening. Mating the soft top to the windscreen.
top goes down fine; straps are new.

Has the top been recently replaced?

if I'm understanding the issue correctly, you're saying that when you put the top up, it goes too far forward and overshoots the windscreen, am I correct? if so, there are two little rubber stoppers, one on each side, that can be screwed in/out to adjust the stop point of the top. its tucked in by the vertical section behind the window, you can screw it in/out to adjust the stop point when the top goes up. here's a picture of the little bugger. so turning the hex nut clockwise, (in or lower) would bring the top closer to the windscreen?

Thanks wantz87. that is correct, the top is overshooting the wind screen. I will try to dig in to this further. looks like i have to pull some things out of the car to get to it.

hey, didn't pop up that there was any activity on here. if you don't have too big of paws, you should be able to reach in there to adjust it withou removing any panels, that was just the only picture i could find off them clearly while not with my car. more to the point I wanted to see if this solved your issue, or if I need to dig a little deeper.
