Cool camera gadget
I know Rick's has that spiffy camera mount, and it's real cool, but I found something else that has some interesting potential.
If you have a local Fry's electronics, they are selling a CMOS color camera, about 1"x1" in size, that runs off of either a 9V battery or possibly off of car current via the accessory port for about $30. There's another low-light B&W model that contains it's own IR LED illumination too.
The mind boggles at the possibilities of this. The cameras can be mounted practically anywhere, and they output to a standard RCA video and audio outputs.
I'm thinking of making a video from it the next time I do a canyon run... somewhere real low to the ground, like from the front grill, or hanging under the front bumper if I feel lucky.
I just thought I'd share, with all the gadgets people are putting in cars, this looks like it'd be fun.

You mean the camera costs $30? Hmmm that has possibilities. I always wanted to shoot some video like you see in the World Rally championship where they put a little cheapo camera in the road, and it gets run over by the cars... That would be a fun shot to throw into a video.
Mount one in the rear tow hook spot and hook it up to an in-car monitor. It will be just like a Mercedes!
At that price, get a couple and then you can do a GT3 type montage with sound and different angle cuts.
One on top of the roll hoop looking over the hood, one on the other roll-hoop looking sideways, one rear facing, and one down low in the grille. Very sweet!

Got the camera hooked up and a short video clip. I'll edit something much more interesting later, but this thread shows a clip and some crappy stills of a suprise I got near the end of the taping session:
