Default Crossover point for tweeters

I am currently running Dayton audio 6" drivers in the door and the factory tweeters. I am going to run new wires and wire up my drivers in the door on the rear channel and the new tweeters on the front channel (http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/25-1166sj.htm) I am running an aftermarket HU so power and quality is better. What HP crossover freq should I use for the tweeters? 2K? 3k? 5k? other?

Don't think you'll get a good answer because it all depends on your speakers and install. I'd say start with 5k and tune down to max of 3k since your TW is flat starting 3.5k. Also, don't go lower than 2 x Fs = ~2k @ 12 db slope otherwise you risk blowing your tweeters.

For the S, I'd say the lower you can reasonably cross the better since the stock woofer location is not so great. You want the tweeter (up high) to play more of the musical content that it is capable of playing well.

Welcome to the relatively unchartered territory of s2k mobile audio :-)

Yeah, I made a C in my electrical engineering class. I guess I need to start reading up more on crossover slopes, resonance freq, etc. I know the S sucks for audio, is why I gave up on my HLCD project and spent way less money with Parts Express. I'll start around the 5K and see what happens.

Can you provide some more information on your system?

specifically tweeter location, on axis or off axis and angle degree if off axis.

which crossover are you running as well as the midbass model.

Tweeter: Tang Bang (not installed yet) in factory tweeter location
http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/25-1166sj.htm

Mid bass: Dayton Audio (in stock door location)
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-372

Current set up:
Dayton in door with wire harness to orginal Honda wiring
Honda tweeter
Both running of HU on front channel
No crossover except on HU (80 hz HP)
USAmp 150 powering two Aura Bass Shaker Pros mounted to seat

Future set up:
Dayton in door wired to rear channel of HU
Tang Bang in door wired to front channel of HU
Crossover ???????
My HU will not cross over high enough to use on tweeters.

I was trying to stay away from two way crossover since I wanted to double the power output by using available HU power.

Another option:
Take bass shakers out, use USAmp for 2 way set up and get 2-way crossover and run amp in stereo.

I am an idiot when it comes to crossover design, but was looking at models available on Parts Express. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which radio are you running?

If you plan on running active, you will need a bandpass filter option for the midbass and high pass capable of crossing 1k and up.

Not very many radios offer a bandpass filter through the speaker outputs.

Pioneer 880prs or some older alpines have this option.
