How much would something like that cost?

How do you go about making a sub box out of fiberglass?
http://home.sprintmail.com/~laurentaz/index.htm

If you follow the link on the original post you can see that I used a section of webbing that is fixed where one of the trunk liner rivets go using a grommet that expands as you tighten a screw - On the other end is a snap to the box. The box stays tightly in place for driving and the whole thing comes out in about 5 seconds.

Making an enclosure out of fiberglass is not a new process, but is somewhat laborious. You have to laminate the fiberglass into a mold, imbed the MDF (medium density fiberboard) front panel and finish (sand, paint, etc..).

For a price I am thinking $350 - which would include the box, 8" sub and mounting hardware (strap, snaps, etc..). Build time will be approximately 10 days + plus your desired shipping method.

If you (or anyone else) want one we would have to figure out a payment method as I am not setup for credit cards - perhaps COD, pre-pay or 50% pre-pay????.

Have you thought about trying a Kicker Solobaric Sub (the square shaped one)?

Those things pound!

I'd be interested in just the box-- I have a polk 8" sub already... how much for just the box?

ALSO-- whats the max-depth of the box (so I can measure to see if the speaker is too deep??

That is S W E E T !! Great job, extremely creative.

Question: would you be able to reverse the mold and create a left and a right?

I would be interested in buying one, or maybe one for each side, but just the enclosure, no speaker.

Again, fantastic work!

Nice work!

I met someone at S2k Days Asheville last year that had a box like this on the passenger side and it was using a sealed enclosure and a JL 8W3 or 8W6. I just can't remember who it was.

MTX makes several 10" subs that only require .5 cubic feet.
