Custom speaker enclosure?
Anyone ever seen anything like this?:

I've been looking into putting more speakers in the car, but didn't want to sacrifice any room, and this is something exactly like I've been looking for.
I plan on contacting the guy to see how much he would charge, but I thought I'd post here first to see if anyone has done this and/or would be willing to do it or something similar for me.
Planning on subs in the future too, but starting with speakers first.

I'd go for S-pods (or similar) before doing something like that in a convertible. It's going to be very easy for a would-be thief to go "shopping" seeing those sitting there. I would also bet the custom work to make the enclosure would be on the expensive side as well.
Just my opinion.

You're probably better off putting your money into better door speakers and a bigger amp than you are in putting money into Spods.
Not that I have a terribly loud exhaust (Tanabe Concept G), but with my stereo turned halfway up, I can barely hear the exhaust at WOT - with the volume at 3/4, I can't hear the exhaust at WOT (in town or on the highway).
If you don't think that's loud enough, you need new ears or a different vehicle to do an install in...

One of the biggest reasons I won't go for Spods - sound coming from directly behind the head...
OP: I have Diamond Audio Hex S600s run off an LRx 4.300 (65Wx4) on an active x-over setup (so about 120W to each door) with an Eclipse CD7100 HU (constant 8V pre-outs)
