Default Custom Trunk Idea

I have recently finished off my system and have decided that I may want to clean up the trunk. I went down and talked to the custom installer at Sound Advice and we came up with this...

Wrap the Wlaurent box with red vinyl and bolt it to the car eliminating the strap.

Raise my amp in the tool well flush with the floor and have a custom cover made for it, wrap it in red vinyl with a cutout black s2000 logo, with plexi covering the amp.

Make a custom panel opposite my Wlaurent box to hold a cap, and wrap that in red vinyl.

All in all I was quoted 600 out the door including the cap. This is a very pretty penny so I want to make sure this is what I want before I have it done. If anyone has any other ideas, please contribute, and let me know how that price is. Thanks.

Idea sounds good, but its bad.(IMHO) Heres the reason.

The whole point of a WLAURENT box is to keep trunk space. Its clean, out of the way, and well made. However, if you raise the amp all the way flush with the floor, you are pretty much killing your trunk space for no reason. If you are going to kill your trunk space, do it right.

Haha, I do see your point, but there is another reason why I went with the Wlaurent box...I hate "ghetto" bass. Excuse me if I offended anyone but I did it to keep it as musical as possible, and rattles annoy the hell out of me, so I went with a small sub. I love your setup but it kills too much space . My idea wouldn't kill all of the space, but most of it.

Yeah, the amp covering in the trunk well will pretty much be what Philip has, but slightly different. It is alot of money, and in all honesty I really dont think I could take it to enough shows to justify it. Even then I think it will be too practical and not enough bling to impress anyone. I dunno, maybe my money is better spent elsewhere.

Do you think you could do something similiar, maybe with slightly less blingage on your own? I bet you could.

You could save some dough that way, and have something totally custom.

I suppose it is possible. However I have never done anything like this before. I also don't have any tools that I would need, nor materials. So basically Im just worried about spending a decent amount on tools and materials, then spending a good deal of time on something that doesn't turn out very well.

I could just go back to them and talk about doing something without the vinyl and s2000 logo, and basically get the trunk cleaned up without the bling. Then in the future I could go ahead and wrap it all in vinyl if I wanted.

Another idea all together is try and get a monitor somewhere in the cabin. I would prefer this as I could enjoy it all the time without having to look in my trunk. Im sure it would envolve all of my previous budget along with some extensive custom work, but it may be possible.

without the vinyl work and S2000 logo, you should see a dramatic price decrease... probably something on the order of more than 1/2.

Mikes2k and FF2Skip both have monitors in their cabin. It's a helluva alllotta work. And it would be substantially more expensive than your trunk clean up. But not only is it possible, it's been done! Note: Flip up DVD monitors will not work in the s2K, the AC vents get in the way.
