Default Custom Trunk / Sub enclosure

Well, I have finally decided to do my trunk up. I'll be doing some sort of fiberglass / plexi set up. Myself and the place that does my stereo work want to do something a little different. First, instead of going with the usuall 2 10" or 12" sub we are thinking of going with 6 6" subs mounted in different locations throught the the trunk, and the place the amp's in the center or something of the like. I honestly have no imagination for this stuff so if anyone has an idea, suggestion or some pic's to give me some inspiration it would really be appreciated...

Thanx!

I understand that. I wont be able to put much in it anyway with the entire trunk aera being done in a yellow/black and clear plexi. If we can we are going to try to still have some useable space, but it's not my main goal.

i can tell you from experience that you need to stick with the traditional 10" or at least a 8" sub.

you could put 10 6" "subs" in there but they are still gonna sound terrible compared to just one 8" in a ported enclosure or a 10" in a sealed enclosure.

the 6's arent gonna have the cone area or excursion to move enough air to sound decent. i tried it in my miata about 5 years ago and ended up scrapping the whole idea. theres a reason everyone puts 10's and 12's and i prefer 8's.

i hate to discourage you because something new is good but i also wouldnt want you to spend a lot of your time and cash for something you'll ultimately be disappointed in.

Believe me, I thought the same thing when they suggested using the 6" subs. Heck, I didn't even know they made them! I trust theese guy's when they tell me they'll work and sound good. They have done alot of work with my car already and have never steer'd me wrong. One of the guy's has them in his own car, but I haven't heard them. Maybe to be safe I'll go with 3 or 4 8 inch subs. Who knows?

Why are you going to install 3 or 4 subs??? That is way more than you need. 2 is more than enough. I have 1 - 10" Alpine sub in a ported box and mine sounds awesome. Your never going to win an DB or SQ contest in an S2000... its a convertible... they suck for both. So I can only assume your doing it for clearity for yourself while driving down the highway at a good speed.

Remember just becuase you can do something doesn't mean you should actually do it... They want to sell you as much stuff as possible... not that it wouldn't look awesome but it would be a complete waste of money. They very well may be a fantastic shop, and have done a good job in the past but don't by stuff you don't need.

This is my setup, (my brother and I did all the work fiberglass and plexiglass work)

Darknight: You make a good point Your setup is BEAUTIFUL! Eventually, I'll come back to reailty and go with something that is cost effective (whatever that is ) Basicallly, I want three things out of this. 1. It's gotta sound great. 2. Look awsome! and 3. Be somewhat resonable cost wise.

I've got a week to figure it out.

Six 6" subs wont hit as hard a nice powerful 10 or 12. But, its your car.
