Custon Seat Speakers
I have wanted to put a second set of speakers in the vehicle. After hours of searching the forums and car stereo stores I came up with this idea and thought I would share with everyone. First I found a set of 4x6 Polk audio speakers at Best Buy. I then took the rear plastic covers off of the back of the seats. I then traced the outline of the cover on the speaker and then trimmed the speaker down with a dremel to make it fit inside the mesh hole. Once it was down to size I then took a piece of 1/4 flat foam and layered it down in front of the speaker and placed the cover over the foam. This was to give the speaker coil room to move without touching the mesh. I then placed the speaker inside the cover and used epoxy to glue the speaker to the cover. I then drilled a hole in the side of the cover to allow for the speaker wire to connect to speaker. I then went over to the local auto interior store and had them put foam over the back of the cover. They sanded down the foam to mold it to the contour of the cover and speaker and covered with leather.

Looks great, but I would imagine that if you are listening to a stereo recording you are not getting a stereo image by having one speaker so close.
I don't have a solution, just sayin'.

Yes the seat speakers are louder than the door speakers, but if you fade the speakers to the front alittle bit you then get a more stereo surround sound. When you fade them they sound great, also when the top is down you can hear the radio without having to blast it.
