Default Dash Board Controls Head Unit

Are there any head unit brands that do not require the Modifry unit? I'm interested in changing out my stock head unit and replace it with an aftermarket system.

I do not believe so. I used to know the technical reason why, but there is a reason.

well every stock head unit has a different way of controlling the radio with steering wheel/dash controls. Because of this, an aftermarket radio would not be able to work with more than a handful of models. It would not be cost beneficial for the aftermarket radio companies.

This is available in the UK http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/lcc...or/pid/7691934 and you need the appropriate connector for whichever make of head unit you have. Ignore the CRV bits - it also works for the S2000.

No idea if it's available in the USA

A DCI is definitely needed. I was about to say "read the FAQ" but the DCI section was removed at some point for some reason. In any case, Modifry's is always highly recommended.

So other than modifry what do you recommend. Yes I know the tread is old.

No changes to my recommendation. If you want suggestions for other DCI's/SWI's feel free to search. They're a common topic.
