Since the NEC's are pin compatible, I'll probably try one to see if it works with the circuit as well as the Clare does. The Radio Shack device has a 500 ohm on resistance which is too much. I was just happy to see ANY solid state version work.

Yeah, I'm meeting with a friend tommorow who is the Electronics design guru, so I'll see what he says about my whole circuit. I'm sure he is going to be making several suggestions to improve the circuit. I'll know more tommorow. The circuit works fine as is, but I want to get a professional opinion on it and make sure it is a sound design. I borrowed an electrical manual from another board member here in San Diego today so that we can match the circuit to the car in detail. I'm really looking forward to getting a PCB design and trying this out in the car. I'll keep everybody posted.

Am working on the final circuit design now. Just cleaning things up and optimizing the components in preparation for creating a PCB. We are going to wire-wrap a prototype and test it in the vehicle before we finalize the PCB design. Should get the prototype done within the next two weeks. Will post pictures of the proto once available. After the proto has been tested, we'll order some PCB protos and make a few units for final testing. Everything looks good. Soon my S2000 dash controls will be fully WIRED in to my Sony deck.

Anytime I've gotten quotes on short run pcb's, the cost is way outta site. Just how complex is the pcb design going to be? Does it have to be double-sided?

I regularly make pcb's at home for my projects, and if you're not talking about a 1,000 hole board, you may want to consider that route.

If you give me an idea of how big (part count/hole count) I may be able to make it for you. Just an idea, not trying to horn in on your pet project.

On the flip side, if you have a pcb source that is cheap, let me know!

Modifry:

Haven't gotten any quotes yet, but my understanding is that there are some places that are really cheap. It's probably going to have to be double sided, and probably around 100 holes. I'll let you know how it goes finding a good price.

S2kMan,

You can usually get a couple of 5" square double-sided boards, for $100-$200, depending upon who you go with.

Maybe we can get an assembly line going. A couple of people from the same area that wouldn't mind spending an afternoon or two.

I've been following your progress. I am ready to purchase a new deck. Will it work with any Sony deck and if not, which do you recommend.
