Dash Controls to Sony Deck Interface
S2KMan,
If you sell these will you be building them yourself? If so there may be some, myself included, that would actually enjoy soldering our own boards for a little discount. Just a thought. I just ordered a empeg unit so this might be just in time!
Thanks,
Ole

Status Update:
Due to several updates I had to make on the PCB, I decided to have another run of prototypes done. These updates were necessary to reduce the labor required for assembly, they are all related to physical layout problems, not electrical circuit problems. I'll be getting 4 PCBs by Wednesday to assemble and test. I sent a unit up to CRussel for testing and we are still working together on a couple of issues as well. Once all of this is ironed out, these units will be available in a group buy format.
Assembly and testing of the new prototypes should be done by Monday 11/12. If all goes well, I'll be getting quotes for parts and labor to produce the first batch of them for a group buy here on S2ki.com by mid next week. I was hoping that I would be able to get the group buy going this week, but it looks like it is going to be next week since I decided to do a second prototype run. Everything for the new prototypes is on order, so I'm just waiting on the suppliers.
I've been using one of the first prototypes in my car for nearly 4 weeks now, and it works flawlessly. I am very happy with the results of all of this work. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me and gave me suggestions to help get this thing working.

You should look in the "For Sale" forums, about 6-8 months ago S2Kman had some group buys for his interface, which seemed to work pretty well for many Sony decks.
I bought one because I wanted MP3 also, and I got the MP450 HU. The interface worked well, but mine (and some others) had a problem with cold weather, which S2Kman fixed. A few months later, however, it stopped working all together.
I sent it back to S2Kman, and he agreed to replace it in a new batch he was making in July. In late July, he said his new batch would be ready in August. I've not heard from him since. I need to send him a PM or email and pester him for my unit.
I know others have had problems with the units, and for a while, S2Kman was very difficult to get in touch with. I have not searched, but I don't remember seeing a post from him in quite a while.
So at this point, I've been without a working interface more months than it worked.

modify, he's a good guy so don't think he's run off on you or the others. I know he had a few personal problems add up over the summer. Thats probably the reason you haven't heard back from him.
Funny how my DCU has been working fine for a while and this morning I read this old post and guess what, I just tried my dash controls and all my programming is gone. Hey Evil G, you jinxed my unit.
