Well I'm officially in this club now - no more going back
The dash was cut for not a screen, BUT a full size Eclipse AVN-5495 double din deck instead.
One of the problems we encountered was the passenger vent Y's off in the rear and since needed about 7" of depth ( a lot more than your standard 1.5" for a screen), we had to re-route and modify it.
It's a learning process but should be moving pretty smoothly from here on out....stay tuned!
Well, I finally joined the club as well. I originally bought the JDM bezel but I couldn't get it to fit in a way that wouldn't drive me crazy everytime I looked at it so I decided to make my own. I came up with this after a few false starts and design changes. I looked at all of the pics I could find on here for inspiration, so thanks to all that posted them. I would say that I am probably 75% satisfied with how it came out and I have considered making some adjustments to the design. But it is finally nice weather here in Vermont and to be honest, I just want to drive my car! Now I am just waiting for my Alpine DVD to arrive and this project will be complete until I am not busy enjoying the top down weather.
P.S. To s4play: Taking off the dash is not that hard to do. Plus it's a great time to really bury all of your alarm wiring or add some alarm upgrades.
Thanks stphotographer. The headunit is a Sony CDX-F7700. I got it because it was pretty inexpensive and it has an auxillary input for my iPod. It was the cheapest way to go at the time but it has been an excellent deck for the money and it will go in the winter car as soon as my Alpine shows up.
