The one I made above was removable from the frame, just pulled out disconnected vga/power cable and stashed under the seat.

1a-race: Any pics of your removeable setup? Sounds like a decent idea but then you have a big gaping hole right? I'm trying to make it look like there's nothing there to begin with.

sorry no pics of the finished product. I sold the mold to a company and legally bound not to show them. god knows if they ever plan to release it or if they had some other motive. anyways the mount stays in the car and the screen was removable.

I would suggest keeping the roll hoops in, atleast the metal part like I did. To take them out you have to remove every other piece of plastic first.

Wow there are some nice installs in this thread....

I'm about to do something similiar but with a twist. It seems most of you are going for a highlighted look but aren't u guys afraid of theft?

I want the screen to have a removeable trim cover so that can be pressed over the area to hide the screen when not in use. Not exactly sure how to achieve this just yet but ideally a grill cloth covered trim cover maybe?

Keep those pics coming!

I initially had this concern as well. I remember discussing making a vinyl/fiberglass shroud or insert to cover the screen. I decided the JDM dash cut spot looks very factory so to thieves its a big PITA to remove...a cover would IMO just bring more focus to "hey whats under that" kind off problems.

... Almost 5 years later no theft issues

My question was in regards to your roll hoops. I noticed yours is kinda "separated" and that is something I want to avoid since I plan on removing the entire hoop as one piece to have them painted. Everyone tells me not to separate them or it's impossible to put back together. Since you have obvisouly worked on the rear of the car, can you give me some clues on how to remove the entire roll hoop in one piece and what to watch out for?
I went hard core hard top all though you could remove the HT and go for a drive weather permitting.

The dealership that removed my soft top split the cover over the roll hoops. I think he though that they had to be removed to pull out the entire soft top including the motors.

I was unaware that he had cracked them until couple of months after the soft top was pulled out. The reason for that was there was a 3month lag time on the carbon fiber sheets I needed to do the box so I did not remove the HT until the CF came in. The guy that broke them apart left my local dealership to go work at another one out of the state. The dealership did try unsuccessfully to glue them back together with silicone caulk even though I told them that it would not work. When that failed they offered to replace them however I would be required to pay the labor to replace them. I said no thanks!!!!

Fixed them my self using an epoxy that is usually used to hold your front windshield in.

Worked like a charm and since it is black if a little bit does seep through its not an eye sore.

here are some pictures of the final in dash work

I can ONLY IMAGINE what your s2000 sounds like with all those crazy sound processors in the car! Amazing work for sure.....

Do you have any daytime pics of the dash? It looks like you re-worked your center vents above the radio to protrude out more?

I would never attempt such an install myself since mine is a daily driver but it's cool to see some people really push the envelope of installs of this caliber

Even when the system is at full volume there is no noticeable voltage drop/dome light dimming even at idle.
