Default diamond audio s600a/s600s, and a few q's

so I may have changed my mind on components. I was looking at the infinity Kappa perfect 6.1's but based on the rave reviews I may be getting the DA Hex s600's. The question is, should I get the aluminum or silk? My listening style is mostly electronic/techno

1. Powering the DA's
I already purchased a MB Quart RA4200 200x4 RMS @ 2ohms to run my system. I want to run the front channels to the Diamond Audios and then bridge the rear channels for TBD sub. Is this a "capable" amp for these DA's as everybody said the love power?

1a. Mount Depth
I read this from the faq: "the rear depth of the space for speakers is 68 mm (2.68") " The specs given for the DA's and Infinity's are 2-1/8 and 2-5/8 respectively. Will I have any fitment issues with either of these components?

2. Amp Rack
I thought I remember seeing an amp rack already fabricated but I searched and couldn't find it.

2a. Crossover mounting
Please excuse ignorance here, should the crossovers be mounted with the amp on the amprack for easy tuning?

3. Sub/Amp
Sub enclosure. I have a JL 10w6 that was given to me by a friend. I would like to have a custom box built similar to the JL stealth box for the s2k. Is there enough space in the tool well for this config? Same question as above, does this amp have enough power for this sub?

4. Dynamat?
Have you found that dynamat helps behind the midbass drivers?

Thanks to all for now

I had the s600s installed on my car for a while. For my taste, the highs were too harsh. But that was before I had a sub in my car, so maybe I was just listening them too loud to compensate for the lack of bass, but even with the tweeter attenuation to the max I still felt they were pretty harsh. I ended with a Focal 165KP instead.

I didn't do the install, but it looked like they fit fine. The tweeters had to be "adapted" a bit, by cutting a little bit of the pods.

I've been slacking on putting the Diamonds on ebay for quite a while now, so if you want a cheap pair, PM me.

i find the aluminum tweeters to be harsh and the silk to be flatter but not as much detail. most of the time, if you like trance metal tweets are the way to go.

mbq amp for the s600 is a bit underpower for them. although the rating is 150rms for the s600, more power will give you better results. much more dynamics and more midbass. try it out with the mbq first, if you are not satisfied, then change the amp. there is no point in getting a more powerful amp unless you are anal about sound like i am.

use mdf spacers/baffles when installing these drivers, they will fit for sure.

dont know much about the amp rack

crossovers, mount wherever you feel is best for you.

yes, the mbq does 400x1@ 4ohm bridged. the amp has balls, i used to use one. it will be enough power for you sub.

i dont understand your dynamat question

what do you want to know?

alum has more detail but is harsh as hell.

silk is smooth sounding, but a problem for me with the silk were that they had no detail. it sounds like it has a boost at 12.5 khz to try to make up for lost detail.

i just think the install killed the s600s for you. they are not suppose to be harsh sounding. sounds like you had a big relfection of some sort. the diamonds are designed to be on axis.

the 165kp are harsh and fatiguing as hell. for me the diamond were were much smoother. but you cant beat focals detail with the diamonds. i think an eq could have fixed your harshness issues with the diamonds.
