Default Dim fuel gauge light

this started 3 months ago on my 04 . my battery died on me , i got it recharged and started my car , i noticed my fuel gauge is dimmer than everything else on my gauge . I drove it for about a week and it lit brightly again like everything else on my gauge cluster . I then disconnected the battery to install some new dash lights and my fuel gauge went back to being dim . I got a new battery thinking that might be the problem ..but no luck ..anyone have a solution ?

smack it.. than if that dosent work the bulb is goin bad..if you touch the bulb.. the acid on ur fingers will leave a hot spot on the bulb that will cut the bulb life shorter

This is only true of high-intensity bulbs, like the xenons they put in the torchiere lamps from Wal-Mart (and your headlights). Regular incandescents don't get hot enough to suffer from this problem. The oils create a localized hot-spot, breaking the envelope.

Take the bulb out and clean the contacts, make sure all of the wiring harnesses leading to the cluster are seated fully. A dimmed incandescent bulb is caused by low voltage... wiring/contacts is about the only thing that can cause that.
