Default Directed 509U Alarm Sensor

Hey guys, well I remember reading a couple months back that they had a somewhat replacement for the proximity alarm. It is supposed to be better and have to do with cabin pressure and such to determine if anyone is messing with your car.

Does anyone have any experience with it? TIA

Okay i think its called the 509U. for some reason they are calling it an ultrasonic sensor. Anyway anyone have any experience with this?? if it works or what not? my proximity sensor always goes off and nobody seems to know how to set it correctly.

I know of it. I was going to use it, but the way it works is that it senses air disturbance. Since we do not have a full cabin I think that if the wind blew and the top flaps it will set off the alarm.

Im not positive, but I didnt want to be the guinea pig.

Revhi is right. The sensor does deal with cabin pressure. So you wouldn't be able to arm your alarm with the top down. The proximity is still the best for any convertible.

either way normally I never park while top down, and i figure maybe I could use the prox and other one.

Reason I want the cabin pressure one is because mine always seems to go off. Is it possible to set these so they do not go off like this?

yes you need to set both of your fields on the prox to a smaller diameter so its not so sensitive to anything beyond your cabin. I used to have the same problem and it was because my 1st and 2nd fields were too wide.

alright, well if it is possible to set it correctly then there would be no point in me getting another sensor. Save me a few bucks.

Las time i tried setting it, it made no sense. But I honestly thing theres something either wrong with my alarm or the people that put it in messed something up. Either way im going to get it re-installed by nsxnext once i get the time.
