DIY - GROM USB2P Install
I wanted my 2006 S2000 to be able to play music from a USB Flash Drive, stream music wirelessly from my phone, and be able to send/receive calls handsfree. So I bought a Honda Acura 03+ USB Android iPod Bluetooth AUX adapter(GROM-USB2P-HON1) with a Bluetooth Dongle add-on.
The GROM box is too big to fit behind the dash as is, so I decided to remove the housing/cover to reduce its footprint. I used the ESD bag it came with as a protective case. I had to cut a small slot in one end of the bag to fit the vehicle harness plug.

I then taped it up to keep the unit from sliding around inside the bag.

Then I used another thread I found on here to help me disassemble the interior trim and uninstall the stock audio receiver.

This shows the orientation of the unit as installed.

Here it is installed just in front of the Airbag module and to the right and sort of under the radio trim support structure.

I ran the microphone wire through this opening.

I removed the cover under the steering column and ran the wire to mount the mic onto the turn signal stalk by tying the wire into a knot around it. I'll eventually drill a hole in the cover over the steering column and flush mount it there. But for now, this works.

This is the mic view from the front.

Here is the radio re-installed with the GROM unit hidden away.

This is where the USB extension cable comes out of. Once a Flash drive is connected, the whole thing can be tucked back under to hide it.

I didn't take any pictures of the finished product because it would've just been a picture of a totally stock interior.
Hope someone finds this helpful.
On a side note, the car came with a iSimple iPod adapter thing that I removed since I don't have an iPod and it would've been more expensive to add USB Flash Drive and Bluetooth functionality to it. So if anyone wants it, PM me.

How does this perform? I'm assuming this will work with any after market head unit as well as long as the wiring harness matches? I'm upgrading my head unit in the next few weeks but the head unit, despite being sonically superior to pretty much everything else on the market, does not support bluetooth. How is call clarity with this? And have you streamed for lengthy periods through it yet? I'm tuned in.

This thing is only really meant for those that want to keep their stock radio.
I'm going to be installing the stage 4 Pioneer DEX-P99RS (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...age4/DEX-P99RS) to run an active 3way front stage. It supports bluetooth with an additional BT unit however Pioneer stopped making the BT unit a while back and finding them new is a real PITA. Thats why I was hoping to find another BT alternative, but Pioneer wants to do everything through an IP bus. ugh. Oh well.

Good job but, fwiw, it's much easier buying and installing a bluetooth deck with a Modifry DCI.

How do you leave your radio door up with a USB flash drive plugged in?
