One thing to add to that is higher-end aftermarket stereos have digital sound processors that let you tune your music to the different speaker situations. By hitting 2 buttons I can go from front biased (slow speed) to all biased (high speed). I can also trim the bass/highs to the fronts/rears/sub independantly, so I can have bass from the 6.5s, without overdriving the 4s.

Bottom line. Listen to setup before you judge. You will be convinced.

Upgrade complete: stock head, xtant 202m (50 x 2), diamond M5 components in doors w/ tweeters in front of door handles, crystal 4 inch "component coaxials," clarion psw-160 sub under driver seat. Amp is powering all four speakers in parallel.

Sounds incredible. No distortion, well balanced, clear. I am very happy with this setup. While I was planning to eventually put speakers behind the seats I really didn't think I would be able to hear this kind of quality from back there. I am surrounded by clear sound. I admit I lucked out with the balance of the speakers behind the seats since I could not change it without additional modifications but I really wanted this car to look unmodified.

Thanks to Lucid for putting so much time and effort into something previously discouraged.

Tfunk, where are the 4inch speakers located. The componets are in the doors, but I am not sure where the 4 inch speakers are located? GaToR

One question: where are your seats? I am 6'1" and my seats are all the way back, I can't believe that rear speakers would would do much good. Although, I would like rears.

Gator,
4 inch are behind the seats just like lucid's photos. These are not separates. I was amazed how much I could hear without a higher mounted tweeter.

COMPLETELY! 100% rear speakers are a total, complete, major improvement to sound. Only an ignorant, lying idiot would disagree. I waited, I thought, I asked and finally because of this board I added a 75 watt x 4 MTX amp (spec'd 100 watt per 2 0hms) with my Boston Accoustics in front and J&L 5 1/4's behind seats (a bit bright sounding but behind the seats the balance out is perfect). I keep it with the sound stage behind my head because I listen to spoken word but music people will move the sound more forward. Do this upgrade. Anyone who questions the upgrade - turn and walk out of the shop. FACT.

The comments have been great about the rear speakers. Seems like 4 inch have the speaker of choice. How did you 5 1/4 behind the seat? GaToR
