Default Do you HAVE to bolt the Stealthbox to the chassis?

I was thinking about subs today, and I realized that one of the problems I have w/ the Stealthbox is that it is bolted to the chassis. It's kind of a given that you wouldn't be able to put a flat tire in the trunk w/ the Stealthbox in the well, but what if you could easily remove the Stealthbox, i.e., just pick it up out of the well? I mean, why does it have to be bolted down anyway? I've had a 10" bandpass box in the trunk of my Civic for almost ten years, and it's never been bolted to anything. And it sure doesn't fit like a glove, like the Stealthbox would fit in the well. So what's the deal w/ bolting it down? It's not like it's going to jump out of the well, is it? If I could remove it easily, maybe I could fit a flat tire and the Stealthbox in my trunk. Anybody know if the Stealthbox would fit where the, at the time, removed spare is?

thanks,
gil

No, you don't have to bolt it down, it will fit in the well without the bolts. I would think the bolts are there for security reasons. If someone broke into your car and opened the truck (which opens from the glove box without a key in the ignition), it would be very easy to steal. As for it fitting where the spare tire is, I don't think it will fit, but I never tried putting it there.

I was looking at you site (for the trunk mod) and Man I have not seen those wire connectors in atleast 15 years. The MaBell used them (Before the brake-up) where did you ever find them?

You mean "beenies" as we used to call them (BY connectors). I didn't know they were no longer available, but I'm still using ones I have left over from when I used to work for a security company in New Orleans. I guess I just dated myself, huh?
