Default Does anyone here have a custom subwoofer enclosure in the trunk tool well?

I know bing0 is/was selling them for $250 - anyone care to give a review as to the performance, fit, etc of the enclosure?

What about the rest of you - did you have your shop custom fabricate an enclosure for you or are there other sources where these can be purchased?

Anything that I should specificaly look out for/ask about? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

I would recommend completing this project by yourself. With your own labor you will save a bucket of cash, but buy yourself some hassle. Finding matching carpet isn't very hard. My sub box is seven pieces of wood and then fiberglassed solid and fits in the trunk well. This is a reletively simple project. Here is a picture of my car:

These are JL 10w3-d2's in a sealed 1.5 cu/ft box. I cannot stress enough that the secret to good bass in a s2000 is a large amp. With limited airspace, and limited space for speakers, these cars are somewhat tricky. Use the largest amp reasonable and the results will be rewarding.

If you need install advice, feel free to email me. Materials excluding tools, will cost you well under a $100. You need to set aside 6-8 hours to complete the box and install.

I'm currently waiting my box from Bing. It should arrive sometime in August. It's going to be a little recessed from the trunk floor and will come with a vented stealth cover. However, he is not a sponsor so he will not be able to post and sell his box on this board. You'll just have to email him. Also, Mindcore's friend makes boxes as well. However, he too is not a sponsor. You'll just have to pm Mindcore privately.

As you can see, many of us have a similar setup; using the well.

I've heard quite a bit about fiberglass fabrication to make a sub enclosure. The process does not seem difficult, and I have experience in making subwoofer enclosures, but how does one calculate the volume?

Wes,

What's that black thing under the spare tire cover? For the wires on your amp, where did you cut the carpet to let the wires through?

I had all the work done by a local shop, so forgive me if I don't know all the details.

I think the wires are just tucked in-between the two panels, where they touch. They are run behind the driver's seat then through the door sill.

The black box is the Neo MP3 player. It's got a 60GB hard drive in it, worthy of holding 800+ CDs (or more if you use lower quality MP3).

I've got a remote in the cockpit for it:
