It depends on how much trunk space you are willing to sacrifice. the most common is to use a 10" and build a custom enclosure in the tool/ jack well ( look into JL stealth box for ideas) or a custom enclosure that takes up the small space on the drivers side of the trunk. With the second option you need a subwoofer that requires low airspace to be most efficient. A 10" is more than adequate for the small area you are working with. A 12" is possible but keep in mind without the addition of headrest speakers you are only working with 2 front speakers ( or 4 if you inlude the tweeters with components) A 12" usually in that scenario is overkill.

My S2000 has a 12" sub in the trunk, it takes up the entire well plus an extra 3" tall, including the long throw Sub Grill, i can take a picture of if you want, it came with the car when i bought it but the amp was trashed and had to be repaired. It really cranks and proably is a little much. I find that an 8" sub for the size puts out better sound than a 10" is you search the forum they have some neat designs for subs on the sides of the trunk so you do not loose the wheel well. I have also seen a really neat design by Modifry on the passenger side floor.

old thread from the MR-S forum, but this is their solution. I am still listed as a moderator of the audio forum :-) Back then, I was simply known as NM369.
