Default Does anyone here have a remote-mounted radar detector?

I've owned a V1 for over 4 years now and love it, but I don't want to leave it in the StooK with the top down and don't like the hassle of hiding it everytime I park the car. So I've decided that a remote mounted solution is best for me. I've heard both negative and positive things about the K-40s, but the price on these is a little bit steep. Does anyone here own or has heard things about the quality, reliability & detection range of the remote mounted Bel, Escort or Whistler? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks,

Mike

Installed an Escort SR-1 about 4 weeks ago. VERY happy. I stopped using my V-1 for the same reason as you. It's going in my wifes car. Escort was quite easy to install. Paid $550 incl. shipping from Amtech. Let me know if you want more details.

I had an Escort SR-1 installed before the Asheville Rally in April. No problems except need to mount high enough to get a good range, and be sure to get over the metal on the bottom of the grill or it wont pick up K band at all.
