Default Remote Radar Detector Experiences

I'm considering buying a Passport SR-1 Remote Radard Detector. Does anyone already use a remote detector and what are your experiences?

SR-1 is awesome...if you need help with the install let me know. Marc (Yellow S2000) and I have driven a bit together and it's a toss up as far as which one (i.e. V-1) sounds off earlier........

I like the "hidden" look of the SR-1 myself.......

i work for tweeter and we sell the sr-1.. seems to be pretty good... BUT. motortrend.com has a pretty good article about radar dectectors in general, and has a section on remote radar units - they seem to like the bel, which i've heard good things about too... i'm going to install one when i pick up my '02, so i found it interesting. check it out.

ps - the bel is half the price of the sr-1

Note that the SR-1 is NOT protected from VG-2 detection ... the Bel remote detector supposedly is.

Kinda makes the SR-1 useless around here (Virginia).

Have fun,
Derek

Love my SR-1. Originally mounted display unit on bottom of dash next to door but had trouble seeing it because of steering wheel and/or my hands on wheel. Just recently moved it to top of dash next to w/s pillar. Much better. Note also that it is programmable for 2 volume settings. Be sure to set to LOUDER position or you may not hear it with top down.

I am now looking at buying the new Passport SRX remote system. Does anyone know anything about it and about "shifting"? I believe it is the newer generation SR-1. I'm also looking for a place to purchase online or over the phone.

Before reading your post, I had never heard of the Passport SRX but I was able to find a little bit of information on their website.
www.passportsrx.com
Have you found any more info out there? I was planning on getting the SR-1 but perhaps the SRX will be the way to go.
