Door Deadening
Hey guys,
I have a few things to address with my doors.
1.) The plastic sheet is all beat up. I know Audis and other makes use a thin sheet of foam instead. Anyone try this? I think I will remove the stock sheet and try this unless somehting catastrophic will happen.
2.) Also my window seems to rattle a bit over bumps, and when I roll it down it stutters a bit. Anyone know how to fix.
3.) I would also like that Mercedes thump when I close the door. How can I achieve this?
Pics and comments please.
Thanks!

1. The platic sheet actually helps keep moisture out.... keeps it away from electrioncs in the door. I had a crossover on the other side of that plastic and it rusted up... JL Audio... expected better, but there you are.
2. You might need a new window register. Not sure how many miles are on the car, but sometimes they just get worn out.
3. To get that "thump" you need a much heavier door.
The above are my opinion and should be treated as such... good luck!

Thanks. What is the window register?
Also the Audi I worked on had what appeared to be 1/16th" foam instead of the plastic sheet. If I addd the foam should I replace the plastic too?

If you want to make it more quiet (convertable top will never really be that quiet) you might just get new plastic and put dynomat on the door. Would be a PITA to get it up against the outside sheetmetal, but would probably help with that thump sound as well... will make the door heavier at least.
