I'm trying to determine the most effective/least expensive mounting option to deliver clean, solid low frequencies without sacrificing any trunk space. Not looking for huge thumping bass...just for solid sound at highway speeds with top down. Very intrigued with Lucid's rear speaker concept, but suspect that this wouldn't provide the low frequencies I'm looking for. A few threads have suggested the possibility of mounting a downfiring sub in passenger dash, which seems to make sense, given the lack of a glove compartment. Has anyone done this? If yes, are you satisfied with the results?

If this isn't practical, mounting in the footwell by the firewall seems to be clever, though there are strong opinions on both sides of this solution. Would the speaker be protected? Has anyone who's done this long-term had any real-world problems?

Appreciate any tips.

 

I'm interested in the passenger dash sub as well. However, I don't think anyone here has tried it, I've never gotten any kind of response after posting the question.

 

I was thinking of giving the kenwood woox box a try on the in the pasenger footwell has anyone tryed this?

I wanted to put a sub in the area above the passanger footwell also. I first saw this in an NSX a long time ago and would think it's a good way to bring bass into the cabin and preserve our limited trunk space. Maybe asking someone at an NSX forum (URL?) would be helpful? Let me know if you find out anything...

There's no room for a down firing sub in under the passenger dash. Reach under and feel - the HVAC blower motor is located there.

Bassman, have you tested the frequency response of that setup? I'm just wondering how much sound it's generating with a 4" driver.
