Default Driver door unlock problem

Tried posting in the Under the Hood forum and did not get a response...hopefully, someone can help me here.

Recently on my 2008 GPW, my driver's side door stopped unlocking via keyless remote. The car will flash, but the interior light will not come on. However, I can unlock the door w/ the key and lock it with the keyless remote. Also, once the driver's side door is unlocked, I can unlock the passenger side door w/ the keyless remote.

I searched the forums and it seems the most likely problem is the door actuator. I've checked all the fuses and tried resetting the keyless remote without any success to resolving the problem.

I took it to a dealer today to see if I could get it fixed since the car is still under warranty. However, they claimed they could not easily find the problem after checking what I think to be the simple stuff (e.g. fuses). Dealer wanted $600 to do an a more thorough inspection to test all the electrical.

I was wondering if anyone could provide any more insight in whether it is a door actuator problem or something more serious?

Thanks!
Dave

if you have a multimeter id check to see if your getting a negative signal to the driver door actuator when your pressing unlock. if you are, then you know its a bad actuator, if not, then you know its some type of wire connection or the keyless module

Actuator for sure...

Actually the actuator will receive a signal but the motor inside actuator will have seen better days either rust or reached the end of its life.

I opened an actuator up and its a simple worm gear inside.
