Default dumb question, but here it is..

This is a pretty dumb question, yet I'm sure someone might have the answer to it.

Does anyone have a v1 radar detector in their s2000? I'm wondering how it hooks up, since there isn't a cigarette lighter..... Also, if anyone has a V1, do you recommend it over or radar detectors?

Do a search, there is a way to do a hard wire, so that when you turn on your car the V1 turns on also. Not to mention it hide the hidous wire.

Yes, otherwise use the 12V accessory outlet.

K, thanks; I found a lot in the search. But also, are there any detectors that are self-battery powered and possibly suction cup onto the window or something?

Battery-powered detectors are practically worthless. To save on batteries they are only active for a short period of time, continually cycling on and off... during one of those off times you could be hit with radar and never even know it.

Indeed. Battery detectors are as good as taping a rock to your windshield.

Forget battery radar detectors man - shiet! I never understood why people even bother with cheap radar detectors....????

The crappy ones make noise, you disregard it and next thing you know it's just a pretty ornament on your dash! So sad

The V-1 is awesome in performance and best way to use it in the S2k is hardwired with the unit either sitting on a custom perch over your rear shoulder and a remote display in the upper left b-pillar or installing the main unit in the upper windshield by the rear view mirror.

Both are great locations, perfectly stealth and works great for actual radar "detection"!
