For my '05 NFR,

I have purchased three Dynamat X-treme bulk packs for a total of 108 sq. ft.

I used 60 sq. ft. in the passenger compartment.
12 sq. ft. in the tool well.
16 sq. ft. on the trunk lid and floor.

Sunday, I will be placing the remainder 20 sq. ft. in the wheel well areas, spare tire area, the backside of the trunk, where the locking mechanism is, and under the convertible tray.

Soon I will be building the sub enclosure and amp rack.

Hope to have tunes by April.

Sincerely,
THRAAK

its not worth it if you only do one layer...
How do you figure that? I have one layer and it works perfectly. Maybe if you have 4 subs in your car, but 95% of the people here don't any more than just a 10 or a 12" sub.

wow...you did a nice clean job on that.

how much weight did that add?? How big of a system you putting in there?
if you are going that far you might want to add a thin layer of ensolite(sp?) foam under the carpet too, that will really kill road noise.

throw a hardtop on that baby and you got a quiet ride!

Does the dynamat stick to the metal like a big sticker? If so, how well does the adhesive hold? I'm thinking long term with many hot summer days...

Also, I noticed that some people "paint" sound deadening over the dynamat. I've never actually felt dynamat, but I assume it's sort of soft, like insulation? Wouldn't a solid, dry layer of a paint-like substance crack on top of the dynamat once you put pressure on it?

The dynamat door kit has 12 sq ft and the shipping weight is 10lbs. At that rate, he has added roughly 80-90 lbs to his car for 108 sq ft.

I am assuming 8-9 lbs for the actual applied dynamat when you take into account the weight of the box and packaging.

I just checked the Dynamat bulk pack box:

A bulk pack consisting of 36 sq. ft. (9), 18"-32" pcs.

A box of bulk pack weighs 18 lbs.

So I have added less than 54 lbs. total.

I usually drive alone but the music means more to me than the speed.

Come to think of it, when I have my 180 lb. friend as a passenger, I do not feel much difference in performance.

Just my thoughts,

Thraak

Thanks,
Yes it is extremely tacky. No problem in the heat. I've used it before on other vehicles. The Florida heat is a good testament for this stuff. What I mean by tacky is that once it touches the metal it sticks. Then you apply pressure with a roller and it's on there . It is not tacky like it is going to rub off. I am only using the Dynamat X-treme. I am not going to apply the liquid.

I will be using: either Alpine 9857 and AudioControl electronic crossovers or a Pioneer Premier DEH-p780mp head unit.
Focal 165K2P upgraded components in the stock door locations.
JLAudio 10W6V2 10" sub in a enclosure to be built in the tool well.
Streetwires interconnects
Streetwires fuse blocks and distribution blocks
Streetwires 4 and 8 g. power cables
1 farad 24v electrolytic capacitor.
2 (OLD SCHOOL) PPI A-404 amps

Mounting the two amps together (with spacer makes it look like one amp) vertically along the trunk (between trunk lid hinge cutouts).

Wow - that's a lot less weight than I thought. I might have put in a little more if I had known that when I was doing mine......

Thraak, DarkKnight, anyone else who's installed-

Besides the roller, is it necessary to use a heat gun to apply Dynamat or RAAMat? Its mid 40's to 50's here, does the material need to be warm to install?
Do you put down a large piece and trim to fit as you lay it down,
or do you cut to size before sticking?
