Looks great s4play.

In the past, I have used Polk reference and MBQuart's in a different vehicle. This is the first time that I have used Focals. Let me tell you, these 165 K2p uv's sound amazing. I have had them in for a month and they sound better and better each day.

Now, I am working on the rears. I have been contemplating going with the Lucid cutouts or th S-PODS. I think DarkKnight1999 has a great point, so I am going to try the Lucids.

P.S. I have just ordered the Focal 130KP'S for the rear. I'll let you know in a week, when I get back into town and install them how they are.

Thraak, I agree with you that the Focals are simply stunning!

I have always been a loyal MB Quart guy and use their Q-series speakers in all my cars. Now I'm a changed man....

Just having the front component setup is more than adequate to create a lifelike soundstage. I'm a purist and prefer my music to be in front of me rather than having speakers in the back to mess up the imaging.

My 2001 S2000 had rear co-ax speakers in the Lucid panels and those were barely audible since I'm tall and my seatbacks are flushed against the speaker. That is why I decided not to install rear speakers back in that panel since I think it's useless.

I have no experience but my guess is having speakers in the S-pod is going to be way to overpowering. Just think of sitting in the rear of a sedan with rear deck shelf speakers blasting in your ears!

To reduce noise even more, you guys should invest in soft-top roof liner. I had Quietcoat on my car for some months, it reduced ambience noise by several dB's, but with top up and at highway speed the noise from the soft-top was very loud and very annoying. I had inner roof liner installed a couple weeks ago, I think it reduces cabin noise another several dB's. I used to turn on volume at 35-40 (max 60) on highway with roof up, now I only need to set at volume 30-35 to have the same sound level.

The inner roof liner also reduces the heat from the top a lot. With the roof up, driving under the sun I could feel the heat on top of my head even at ambience temperature of low 70's, after roof liner installed I am barely feel the temperature difference between the top and the floor.

TR-S2K - Where did you get the roof liner? How well does it fold up with the roof when it is down?

Thanks

Here's what i am thinking: i am going tackle my trunk first then my doors.
On my doors should i do it ahead of time or during the install of the speakers? And on the plastic thingy on the door, do i really need it or i should might as well take it out? Thanks guys! Keep the pics coming please.

So I put some Alpine type R comps in the S today. I only got to the left side. I started by sealing the door with Edead. I took off the plastic lining as it wasn't necessary after the mat went on.

Lining off

Speaker out

PTHermes,
I got the roof liner through a group buy with member named erik, I think it was $320 - $330. It took me about 2 hours to install.

This roof liner was made in Germany, erik organized a group buy to save shipping cost from Germany to his house, then he ships to us.

How well does it fold up with the roof when it is down? It hold up to the stock soft top very well when the top is down, and the top is flat at the down position as without liner.
There are some pictures and installation suggestions in the link below:
