Eclipse 5435 and DCI
Hey Jordan -
I haven't picked up the DCI yet as I want to see how Eclipse's built-in steering wheel support works. As of now, the software still hasn't been uploaded, by Fujitsu-Ten, to Eclipse's website.
I picked up the CD5435 for my S, and the CD8445 (killer unit) for my other car. As soon as Eclipse-Fujitsu posts the software that you will have to load into your unit, I will post my review of it on here. Note, if you haven't installed the unit yet, you will have to shave, or grind, off two little tabs on the stock brackets.
I've spoken with Eclipse's tech support multiple times, and they assure me that it will work on "all vehicles." However, the tech support didn't seem very technical. My hope is that it will work as our factory steering wheel control is purely resistive (with exception of the mute, I believe.)
Keep checking back here: http://www.e-iserv.jp/portal/dispTopMenu.do?lang=na for the steering wheel data.

Project - I had it put in by a shop here in town and they were able to get the volume and channel changer to work on the dash, not mute or mode. I don't know the exact model of the piece they used to get it that far, but it's programmable. The guy who put it in was on the phone with Eclipse and talked about getting firmware updates, but didn't have any details.
By the way, it sounds great with the premium series MB Quart components in the door, JL Audio 300/4 and stealthbox in the trunk. Now I just need to get the controls working.
I'll be checking back
Thanks

So all you got was volume and channel change? Bummer.
Not sure why they couldn't get MODE to work, but the factory MUTE generates a +12v signal when muted and all after-market HU's I've seen need a ground. That's simple to fix with a relay, and any decent shop should have figured that out.
