ever turn so hard you filled your gas tank?
I was merging onto a clear open road yesterday and took a really hard - almost track quality corner around 40-50mph.... When I pulled out of the turn, my gas gauge jumped from 1/2 tank to a full tank.... Since then it has quickly gone back to roughly where it should be... Had 220 miles on the tank, now at 256 and its around 1/3.... Should I be concerned about a fuel sending issue in my near future? What parts would be involved?
I had the elm 327 Bluetooth hooked up so I turned it on and the fuel level reading "from ECU" said 44% which was close to the gauge reading before it jumped to "full". Kind of puzzling but looking for an idea....

The gas level is measured by a float in the tank. With a half-full tank, in a hard turn the
gas will slosh to one side or the other, either raising or lowering the measured level depending
on direction. Many gauges are damped so you don't see sudden changes, but a sustained turn
could displace the gas long enough that the gauge reflects this, and of course the damping
would also cause it to return to normal slowly.

Ha-ha thanks. I typically don't drive this hard but it was a pretty long turn. I'm just hoping it wasn't a sign that the gauge cluster was messing up.... Or something in the fuel tank. If anybody does have an idea lmk.
