FACTORY DECK USED IN SYSTEM/AMP CONFIG?
Hi everyone, I just picked up a beautiful S2000 2 days ago and to make a long story short I actually enjoyed coming to work... well the drive at least.. lol
Can anyone give any advise on the following please? I would like to use my factory Head Unit and along with an Alpine Amp that has Hi-Level inputs to run 2 6.5 Fosgate in the Door and an Orion Ported 10 in the Trunk. I dont see any rear speakers on my 2000 model and was wondering if my
1. Head Unit has rear speaker wires that I could use as a rear channel on the amp?
2. Do I have to drill a hole between the trunk and the back seat to run power, speaker. input wires?
I do have a lovely Alpine CD Unit I can use but would like to go with the Factory HU because of both Security and the Dash Control reasons.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

The plastic panels behind your seats come off pretty easily. Just unscrew the two things that look like hooks and then everything else pretty much pops off with clips. After you take those off, you can see right into the trunk. Just run your wires then reinstall the panels.
As for the head unit, screw the dash controls and use the alpine. I'm pretty sure the stock s2000 head unit is the worst radio ever made, ever.

I agree with the above, but to answer your question, yes, the
OEM headunit has rear channels, but the factory wiring harness does
not have wires coming from the pins, so you either need to
a) add wires to the factory harness or
b) purchase or make your own adaptor harness - see
http://www.lucidauto.com.
if you add wires or make your own harness, be aware there are
issues with the mute button.

Thanks so much for all the info guys. My install (DIY) begins tomorrow morning. I have done some installations on previous cars so I should be ok. I really didnt know how to get the Power wire into the trunk but thanks to you all it seems like a breeze. Will keep you posted... wish me luck

Wz up guys, my stereo installation is now completed. First of all i wanted to say thanks to all for their advice on this project. I installed an Alpine CD player 7892 as well as an Alpine 5 Channel Amp and running 180 Watts to an Orion custom made 10" Sub. I had a pair of Fosgates up front but replaced them with the factory unit because i thought they sounded better. My cheap reccomendation is to stick with the factory door speaker and get a good deck and amp to run them and of course put some bass in the trunk. My set up sounds quite nice and loud and I am very happy with it. if any one in the Mississauga, Brampton area needs to get a similar set up installed just PM me and I will be happy to asist.
I wil post some pics at a later time. bye
