Is this feasable?
I know this can be done, but I'm wondering if this can be done cheaply and easily. I don't wanna do this if it requires all sorts of crazy stuff. Everytime you press that radio door it folds down and unveils the head unit. I was wondering if there is a way to make your head unit tilt (Alpine 9855) at the same time the radio doors folds down. I don't mind manually tilting the head unit back as I close the radio door, but i thought it would be cool if it did it automatically when folding down. Does this make sense?
Hmm interesting idea. I dont know about that, but I did find this before. Not exactly what you want, but somewhat on the same topic. Im sure someone could convert it for the S2000.

Not quite what I was getting at. I meant when you push the radio door to open it, the head unit will also tilt out in sequence with the radio door opening. With the car already on.
It could be done, but I don't think it'd be the way you're thinking.
You could put a momentary switch in the door frame and hook it up to the switched wire for the radio (I'd use a relay, don't just put the switch in the curcuit).
When the door was closed, the radio would turn off. When the door opened, the head unit would turn on and the face would tilt out.
Problem is, you'd not be able to listen to the radio with the door closed.
Oh, and you'd still have to turn the car off, first, then close the door as the switch would be more for keeping it off, until you opened the door, then for shutting it off.

This could be done but you would have to open the HU up and interupt that button on the HU.
I totally understand what you mean but it would be a lot of work... and if you mess it up you could kill the HU completely.

You could probably run some kind of servo motor off of the HU power on function that would rotate the door down when the car is turned on. Then put a delay on the power on wire for the HU (after the splice for the servo). This would allow the radio door to open when the car is turned on, then have the radio turn on a second of two later. Seeing as most tilt radio's tilt back up when turned on, it should work. You would have to do something to get the door back up, though (kind of run something in reverse order....turn radio off, then rotate door up a second or two later).
I think Modifry and MacGyver would probably be the guys to talk to regarding this.

Nice. Yeah it does sound a bit too risky to do for someone like myself. I was just curious what would actually be involved in doing something like this. Modfry should totally try and create some universal kit that would enable that. I'd buy it.
