A few simple audio questions
Hey all, I just picked up my first S yesterday, a red '06 with 10k miles.
I took some audio components out of my old car, which are as follows:
-Alpine CDA-9886
-JL Audio XR front 6.5 components
-JL Audio 500/5 Amp
-Image Dynamics 12" sub
The system sounded awesome in my Corvette. I understand the sub may not be optimal in an S2K due to limitations in mounting space, which I plan to use the tool-well for.
I have a general idea of where I want to mount the amp, and know the head unit will work fine, but does anyone have any suggestions on where I should mount the crossovers and what will need to be modified to fit the speakers in the doors? The only threads I could find on this topic contained outdated links.
Also, my car has, I believe, a total of 8 speakers. 2 on each door and 2 in each headrest. Will I be able to implement these speakers into the new setup, or is it pretty much impossible / a waste of time?
I can't find a model number anywhere on the sub, but the enclosure in the Corvette was pretty large. I guess no one can help me out here without a model number...anyways, are those $50-70 enclosures on eBay any good, or should I just look into making one myself?
Thanks
Matt

I found the model sub I have and it seems an S2K tool-well enclosure would work fine given the recommended cubic feet.
