slackster: That is probably one of the most creative installs I've seen in an s2000 to date ~ and I've seen plenty!

I might have to steal your basic layout for an iPad2 setup I've been deliberating but one of my original goals this time around was to NOT cut the dash and your is pretty obvious it must be cut.

To the OP: Very genius thinking man - radio doors are cheap to replace so I think you idea has a lot of potential. I really like how seamless it looks and that NAVI is a very good location as long as you can confirm good reception which you did

I had my radio also cut and fiberglass shaped for a different purpose but now you are making me think of doing it differently once we get our Apple iPad2 into the dash.

Our goal is to have it remove-able for portability but also looking seamless when inside the car. Regardless great job on the install - I would love to see some in-car pics of your setup!

Hey Vactor, sorry but I no longer have a copy of the original pdf since I cancelled my domain hosting.

Thanks, Rick! I actually got a lot of inspiration from you and others who were brave enough to cut their dashboards! If I had it to do all over again with today's technology, I might use an Android tablet (4.3 or 5 inch) or just build a dock for my cell phone instead. I still use the heck out of the 1390t on road trips though since it's already mounted and wired up. Everything on my interior is kept as OE looking as possible. You can find pictures of the interior on my Cardomain page.

Sorry man, but it's been years since I made these, and honestly I question the value of having a dedicated GPS unit in 2016 (no offense intended towards anyone that still uses one.)

My reasoning behind this is that with Google maps now offering the ability to download offline maps (combined with GPS signal reception), the smartphone is now the king. Additionally, Google maps is able to consolidate traffic and obstruction data from Waze and route accordingly. The only reason I keep the Garmin in my car at this point is for the OBDII readings coming from the ecoRoute HD module.
