So this won't work with any 7xx series? I believe I have a 780.
It will work, but having an antenna connected to the MCX connector will be a problem due to its orientation. A right angle plug where the connector will reach pretty far back into the space behind the door. I can't promise any aftermarket stereo will fit back there even when back-mounted, as long as an antenna is connected. So, if you don't connect the antenna it kinda defeats the purpose of having a high end unit like the 7xx series. An FM traffic receiver will work too but will require a crazy amount of soldering since the 7xxT series connects the traffic receiver through the dock instead of the USB port.

The short answer is, your 780 will work just fine but your stereo may or may not fit with an antenna connected.

What did you use to mold? My concern is doing doors in different colors other than black.

Bondo!

EDIT: Sorry, that was ridiculously vague. I used Bondo body filler.

Thanks, but I think it's going to be a little hard to match up with red or blue doors. I was thinking of having the nuvi screen fit flush with the radio cover so no bodyfillers/paint will be required.

Looks great. Just seems having the navi higer up would make driving a viewing easier. Looks great none the less and if the voice guidance is audible then its an excellent spot.. great work..

Thanks! Still have a couple more faces left (both centered) and surrounds (black/blue/red) from buyers who didn't come through...

You know, just yesterday I was thinking about doing something like this. Then I find this thread!

Can you take pics of what your "production" faces look like, and how much are they selling for?

Also, it looks like you started using the 1390T. How does the traffic receiver work with your 1-USB wire solution?
