This question has been asked and the consensus is that you don't need to wire the headunit to the battery and in your case if you are not going to use the amp the wiring harness will be more than enough.

I was told, by an Alpine expert.....that only the VDRIVE head units need to be wired directly to the battery for OPTIMAL performance. Most alpines are NOT equipped with VDRIVE amplifiers (the ones people buy when they plan on NOT using an external amp do), and thus, no need to wire straight to the battery. The Alpines that we all have have a MOSFET power supply.

Nope, It does not. I just checked with Alpine- America & the 9833 has the V drive amp. But if you're amping the rears with a seperate amp, you won't need to direct wire the HU to the power supply anyway. But the 9833 is a V-drive not MOSFET.
