Default Gonna throw a Sub into my trunk, WLAURENT's box, looking for suggestions

Hey all,
I'm been Pming WLAURENT back and forth throughout the day, and I figured I'd bugged him enough . Anyways, I'm gonna put 1 8" sub in the trunk of my stook, using his box. I'm trying to decide which sub. Based on what W tells me, I'm looking at RF Punch 2 or JL 8W3. Also, I'm looking for amp suggestions to drive the front speakers and the sub, and mount vertically against the front of the trunk.

My concerns
-I've read that RF are good, but you can do better for the money.
-The JL only support 125 watts continuous, the RF supports 200 (P28S4)
-They're close in price so that's not really a concern.

So I'd like to know what you guys (esp. those with single 8s) think and recommend, for both drivers and amp.

I'd like to keep the drive below $150, and the amp around $200 (maybe a little more if its cost effective)

Thanks!!!

Yup. They nice. They provide a nice low end fill. You wont set off car alarms, but I dont think thats what you are after. It will sound nice.

Well.......

They are the same price...
They are the same wattage
They are both made by reputable companies

Polk has a nice grille

Rockford goes 6hz lower

Flip a coin......

They are almost identical. I would probably lean towards rockford if it were me.

As for amp, any amp that can do 200rms mono is fine.
You can get this amp...

Its overkill for this application, but you can reuse it later on for another application, and the amp will always run cool.
its also 129 bucks.

Quick amp question regarding durability

I know some seem more heavy duty than others. Since this'll be mounted in the trunk, I'm a little scared of something hitting it and breaking it...esp the soundstream (I've checked that one out before). Any thoughts?

Dont worry buddy. They arent made of glass. I never heard of an amplifier actually physically breaking. Some amps...you can break the case (ie, kicker, rockford, etc.....its just a plastic cover) but the amp itself is metal. DOnt worry about that!

Couple questions about Amps,

I've got RF components (not sure which ones) in the front, but I PLAN on changing them in the next year .

I've got Kenwood Excelons (xR501) in the rear 40Wt. x 2 RMS.

I've got an Alpine 7892 HU, which puts out 50wt. x 4.

If I get more powerful speakers up front, I'm gonna want more power going into them, so that means I should get a 4 channel amp rite (bridge 2 channels into the sub). Would it be of ANY value to get a 5 channel and drive the rears with the amp also, or just wasted power b/c the HU puts out more than enough to drive the rears, esp. with the fronts being powered by the amp?

If I get a 4 channel, how's the Phoenix Gold Octane below look? I can get the sub driver for free if I go with this deal?

Thanks for any suggestions.
