Get the PG Tantrum 600.4 instead before they're gone. I can't believe they have these down to $240 now. I've got the Polk 8\" in a WLaurent box and it sounds great. That little sub has awesome excursion. It was on B/O for a long time though. I ended up waiting about six weeks for mine.

How bout this? Just talked to my friend who's installed a lot of stereo

, not many people have done this (if any):
Mount the sub firing into the back of the top (behind the roll hoops,) fabricate some kind of custom reinforced holder with the box sitting in the spare tire (or use the spare tire well as the box) It would be sweet when the tops up, but I think top down you wouldn't get much.

Also, what about cutting/drilling the conv. top holder to allow bass through into the cabin?

Pics would be appreciated of the second option. Thanks

What about the elemental designs E8A, its on sale now for like 140 or so, and you can put 350 watts rms to it. And the air volume of this box is fine for it.

not to mention - trying to find a grill which will fit to protect it... i think i finally found one, but need to find a place that sells them....

and you want to talk about excursion from an 8"? try a 1 way verified claimed Xmax of .75". i once measured the excursion of mine while pushing it super hard on a 20 hz test tone... using the old ruler and eyeball - i had cone extension exceeding 1.25" from the at rest plane.

here's a pic of her just moving a little while listening to music

(and then of course there is the issue that the sub has been on backorder for a couple months now.... they've had cone material supplier problems... )

finally, someone who isn't all about buying on the 'Net! Rockford will not warranty any internet items unless you buy from Crutchfield (can you say overpriced?). I've been in the audio business for over 5 years now and I hate to see all these local shops close because of the 'Net. What are you going to do when all your shops close and have no way of listening to product before you spend your hard earned money on it? What if you buy it because everyone says it's amazing and you get it and it sounds like total shit to you? Guess who's screwed now... BUY LOCAL!!!!!!!
