guess which dash control
Trying to learn more about the dash control that the previous owner installed, but need help identifying which one it is. Apologize in advance for the long post.
Here are some observations of it:
1) Volume up requires holding down on the rocker, as opposed to clicking.
2) There is a lag between when the volume rocker is tilted and when the radio responds.
3) Holding down the CH button on the dash results in changing of the preset group (FM1, FM2, AM)
4) Holding down of the Audio Control button/knob results in changing of source (CD vs. tuner)
5) Holding or pressing of Mute button does not do anything.
6) There is an unlit led/diode that is mounted on the right side of the bezel where the aftermarket CD player is.
Questions:
1) Which dash control do you think it could be? I'm leaning towards Modifry IR, but the functionality outlined on Modifry's site (http://modifry.com/products/dci/irdci_details.htm) do not work on my dash control, i.e. Mute button does not work.
2) (This is really the root of me trying to identify the control interface) The controls only work when the door is closed or when the led/diode is covered (opened radio door, covered it with my hand, and had a friend use the dash control).

I suspect you have a PAC SWI-X. It's notorious for having a delay and does
not support the mute button.
The IR emitter sounds like it is mounted in a way that the IR needs to be
reflected back to the headunit by the door or your hand. You might be able to
remount the emitter so it sticks out a little further and/or is a little closer to the
sensor on the headunit so your dash controls work with the door open.
