Hate My Bostons!!!! - Help Me
OK. I bought some rc620's and they are so bright they make my teeth hurt.
IS there anything I can do or am I just gonna have to sack up and replace them with MB Quartz?

Are your Boston's powered by an amp or running off the stock head unit? If stock HU, get new speakers or an amp - not much else you can do. Otherwise, things to try:
Point the tweeters away from you, down into the floor or some other absorbant material
Use the treble control on the radio
Not sure about the RCs, but my BA Pros came w/ a toggle on the cross overs to set tweeter volume level. 0, -2 or -4 db. Set it to -4db
Hope this helps.

thank god for internet access in my first class... Twizted rants about these hex's but i haven't ever heard of them, i hear a lot about the MB Quarts, but only on the boards. The reason this post is so close to home is because on friday i'm having RC620's installed in my S, by tweeter. I am interested in what you have to say, i have an amp for these speakers, however my father will love the briteness and i will hate it. interested in your descisions, and fixes, Scott, do you have any BA experience? how much do the hex's go for, is there a less expensive version?

I had the same problem with Diamond Audio's M5 (one step below HEX) 6.5" component set. I exchanged the tweeter that came with the set for Diamond Audio's silk dome tweeter, (most of Diamonds sets have the choice of aluminum dome or silk dome tweeters) as well as set the cross over on the -2db tweeter setting. This made a night and day difference - now I love the way they sound. I also agree about the MB's - one of the brightest tweeters I have every heard.

Does anyone else think boston's are bright? maybe i am hearing things. Maybe i am just not used to the sound as compared to my old crappy stock ones.
If I go out and get a new tweeter, will it just slide in the same spot?

My Hex's are incredible. The X-over has a brightness setting. I have it on the lowest setting.
Not as good as the Image Dynamics car we hooked up with last night. CD2 comp horns, 3 pairs of 6.5" midbass subs, mythical IDone processor (not released yet), arc audio amps (8 of them), and 4 ID MAX 12's
. The car sounded great. Don't ask me any questions about the setup, I had to drill my friend to tell me what all the stuff we saw was.
I'm just copying and pasting.
