Default HD Tuner Installation

I have searched and asked in another topic. I am trying to find out if anyone has installed an accessory HD radio tuner along with their headunit. I have a Kenwood KTC-HR300. It's dimensions are 6-1/2"W X 1-3/8"H X 4-5/16"D. I would love to know what you did and where you put it. Thanks for your help.

you could hide it inside the drivers side dash. You'd just have to lay on your back and look up and zip tie it up there somewhere.

or

you could remove the access panel on the passenger side dash (under) and hide it inside there.

This panel is the same one which on the 06+ s2k is replaced with a storage pocket.

HD radio is such a scam personally I would skip it but to be helpful that would probably fit under the drivers seat easily since its only barely over 1" in height.

There is plenty of room in the passenger side kick panel. I used a sort of weatherstripping adhesive (a black sticky tack that doesn't dry) to avoid vibrations and hold it in place.

I have a Sirius tuner for my Kenwood HU and just left it on the carpet behind the driver's seat. I'm planning to move it above the gas tank eventually, but it hasn't given me any problems in the last 9 months.

Care to elaborate on why HD radio is a scam?

b/c HD doesn't stand for high definition the quality is no better than FM radio its just a marketing ploy to get people to associate it with HDTV, you get a few more dedicated "HD" channels I guess thats cool but most people don't realize its no better than FM radio and its only a matter of time till they add tons of commercials like FM radio or charge a subscription fee.

It allows for more information to be broadcast over FM. It is supposed to be higher quality of sound.

I however hate FM in general since its mostly commercials.

I dont believe they will charge a fee for FMHD. However they have commercials just like normal FM. you just get the commercials in HD quality sound, assuming of course the reception is good.

its probably all going to go that way eventually anyway just like TV, get rid of all analog signals for digital which uses much less bandwidth
