head unit with amber/orange display
I would like to replace the head unit on my s2000. I am concerned that the new head will not look good with the car. I would like to match the orange color of the rest of the dash lights with the new head unit.
Does anyone have an opinon about which head unit best matches the orange color of the rest of the car's controls? The unit would also need a remote (SWI-3 support).
Thanks!

Y2K,
I'm not at home right now, but I know a new model was just put out by Alpine (?) that allows a REALLY large selection of colors (like 68?) with varying shades in-between. You can choose just about anything between red, blue, yellow, orange, green, etc. etc. I'll try to look it up when I get home, or just check out Crutchfield.

Hey, MacGyver,
I noticed that all the head units that I checked were listed as needing modifications to the car in order to install. According to Crutchfield, this can mean anything up to and including slicing up the dash. What modifications are needed in reality?
Thanks,
Tanq

Tanq,
Like Pinky said, quite a few are still plug and play. In my case, I had to slightly enlarge one of the holes on the deck (see my webpage) to allow the brackets to fit, but it was a 10 minute problem. Once I placed the plastic "ring" around the faceplate, there's about an 1/8" gap around the entire plate. I'll eventually get around to cutting a piece of plastic to make it look professional, but as it is it doesn't look too shabby. Crutchfield will send along a piece of plastic automatically which you'll have to cut to shape anyway.
In a nutshell, most systems shouldn't require anything drastic, like cutting of metal or plastic...
