i am also looking into getting a new head unit and i hear great stuff about the 9831, but i reall don't like the styling...
i preferred the 9835 to the 9831, but apparently as natedoggs2k said, the V-drive is no good. hmmmmm.

the V-drive is fine... if you have outboard amps, you don't need it... but there are many other features on the 9833 and 9835 that make it a worthwhile upgrade...
just realize, that some portion of the money you're spending on the upgrade is going to a V-drive feature you're not using.
