Default Headunit recommendation

can anyone recommend me a good head unit? Im only looking to change out the HU and nothing else. Looking to spend around 100-150.

MP3 playback is important, ipod connectivity would be nice too.

I was also wondering if there was a HU around 100-150 that would offer built in cd changer? thank you.

I'll be honest you;ll be hard pressed to find a decent HU that can also have an Ipod hook up for $150 bucks... You're better off saving up a little extra cash and getting a better unit, its worth it.

Pioneer DEH-4800MP will give you everything you're looking for and it's around $130, I think. At least that's what I paid for it about a year or so ago.

That HU is good but you need to buy the Ipod adapter to match up with it as it doesn't come with it. It can control the Ipod but with the Pioneer adapter... however if you don't mind spending extra cash for the ipod adapter, this HU would be a decent choice.

Good call NM

The adapter is only needed if you want it charged as you drive. I just ran a 3.5mm minijack-to-minjack cable under the center console and out the compartment between the seats for easy access. I hardly leave my iPod in the car because I'm updating songs or listening to it elsewhere ... so just charge it on the computer then. Oh, and with this set up you still get to use the DCI (w/ SCV set really high for the Pioneer).

So you got a Pioneer DEH-4800MP and a DCI for under $150 bucks? I doubt it.

I sell this gear for:
Pioneer DEH-4800MP - $145
DCI - $99
Harness - $12
Mini to mini $5

$261

I don't know dude I guess I'm missing how this is in his budget, unless you skip the DCI then I would be I guess.

I'm not saying I got it all for under $150, just that this particular HU gives all the options and is within his limits. He can do the DCI addition later, and this HU gives the opportunity while still being able to use the mini for the iPod connection.

If that $261 is shipped, then I'd recommend Allstar go ahead make the purchase

is the install as easy as people say if its just the HU replacement? i might pay a guy locally to do it but I'd rather save money if it requires no soldering / etc.

also should i get the IR DCI or Wired DCI for pioneer?

You want a wired one.

I have this forsale https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=452962

Ready to go truly plug and play. You can install this yourself and save the cash. Its a little more than what you wanted to spend but its done in 15-20 minutes.
