Help...How to remove/replace radio door?
Hello all,
I tried to search for info on the forums but for the past week the search page has been resulting in a blank or white search results page. Can someone guide me as to how to remove the radio door from a AP1 and replace with a 04+ radio door? I tried prying the hindge of the door up from the pin but it seems it wont work and will break the hindge. I tried to use a pick to pull the pin out, no luck either. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Will

Look in the FAQ. You will see my post with photos on how to remove every panel in the interior.

I looked at the FAQ above and I see your posts in that thread and I dont believe you posted photos/instructions for removing the radio door from the panel? Am I blind?
Look what I found in the FAQs at the top of UTH:

Changing a radio door is not considered "Electronics". There is no wiring involved. You need to think out of the box.

I think he is trying to figure out how to remove just the door and leave the frame in place. He is talking about removing the long hinge pin.
That would be pretty tough to do without first removing the door frame assembly from the dash.

Thanks for your help guys. I was actually asking how to remove the radio door itself from the radio door panel with vents which sits over the radio frame. I had already figured out how to remove the radio door panel cleanly by myself before posting this thread this so thats why NFRs2000NYC's links couldnt help me. I needed to find out exactly how to remove the door itself from the door panel inorder to remove and replace with a silver AP2 door. I figured it was involving somehow removing the 2 long hindge pins as VintageMac stated in his reply, but I wasnt sure how to remove the pin or unhindge the door from the panel without breaking something. I tried a pick to push out the pin from the inside out, it sorta moved maybe a mm but not much. Tried grabbing that mm of the pin on the outside with a small needle nose plier and pulling but that wasnt working. Tried prying the plastic radio doors hindge from the panel's hindge hoping to free the door's hindge from the pin, that didnt work either. So I figured I would try using something thicker than the pick to push the pin out from the inside side of the hindge...I found a clothes hanger and bent the hook part alil so it was straight at the end but yet still had the curve of the hook at the other end. Slid it into the inside hindge pin's hole being careful of clearing the door then putting some elbow grease into it managed to push the sucker out. So the pin slides out with some force. Not too bad....just bad trying to figure out what to use and how to take out those damn pins!
